At Pivot Brigade, we specialize in providing training and consulting services to nonprofit organizations and donor groups related to all things risk related, including risk assessment and management, understanding and coping with stress individually and as a team, personal safety and protection, de-escalatory communication. We teach, conduct research and consult. We are experts from diverse backgrounds, including military, law enforcement, government, and third sector organizations, with experience in hostage negotiations, diplomacy, startup management, and prison administration. We also have in-house expertise in areas such as counterterrorism, contingency planning, and – to make this list really fancy -  horse racing. We are psychologists, coaches, sociologists, former special forces officers, university lecturers, and corporate executives. We believe that:

• Safety requires planning, flexibility, and consistency, and is not the product of paranoia or aggression.

• Good communication involves curiosity, tactical empathy, and mentalization, rather than canned phrases, competition, or egotrips.

• Successful teamwork is about building relationships, drawing on experiences, and fostering creativity, rather than exerting power, competition, or strain.

We like to think of ourselves as a "boutique" company, which means that we do not offer off-the-shelf programs that are executed the same way for every job.
